The Jayalakshmi Vilas Mansion is actually currently acquired by the University of Mysore. They have used it as a building for their postgraduate studies department and if you are interested in exploring beautiful university campuses then you must visit this place for sure. It used to be the palace of the eldest princess of the Wodeyar dynasty in the late 1800’s but later on once the government of India took over the princely state of Mysore, a lot of things changed. Also, the best feature about the Jayalakshmi Vilas Mansion is that it is situated on a hillock which gives it an even beautiful view of the surroundings. It has been declared as a heritage site by the government of Karnataka, and since then a lot of restoration work has also been going on.
Brindavan Gardens: 
Well, this attraction is a blend of nature’s beauty as well as brilliant planning and is one of the most talked about and celebrated gardens in India and hence it is definitely an important part of the list of places to visit near Mysore Palace. The construction of the garden had begun in 1927 and it was completed by 1932. The garden has horticultural farms as well as well maintained terraces. There are three terraces in number and also a large number of fountains. In 2002, restoration work was carried out and there were automated musical fountains installed in order to make the garden better. It is visited by a large number of tourists.
Chamundi Hills: 
This is another major tourist attraction. The Chamundi Hills are very close to the city of Mysore and hence naturally close to the Mysore Palace as well.
